Job Description

  • Over the past five years, our client, Adcock Equipment has emerged as a leading heavy equipment dealership in Western Canada. Specializing in the sales, service and parts of telehandlers, boom lifts and scissorlifts, Adcock Equipment has become synonyms with serving companies across Canada with quality product. In partnership with market leading manufacturers like JLG, Skyjack, Genie and Xtreme, Adcock has seen rapid growth and expansion in all areas of their business.Due to this rapid growth, Adcock Equipment is seeking an experienced professional to fill their exciting new position of Financial Controller. The Financial Controller reports to the owner of the company and forms part of the senior management team. This is a dynamic role for someone with the people and leadership skills to collaboratively make any changes that improve the operations of the company.The role would be suitable for someone with manufacturing or equipment sales industry experience.The working location of the Controller’s position is open for discussion as there are two company locations: Edmonton, Alberta and Langley, British Columbia. Relocation assistance is possible for the right candidate.

    Primary responsibilities:

    • Overseeing all general accounting functions, including A/P, A/R, general ledger, reconciliations, regulatory compliance, and inventory management,
    • Financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly and year end closing,
    • Preparing cash flow projections and annual budgets,
    • Ensure that the financial control environment is strong, sustainable and supportive of their business growth by streamlining policies, procedures and internal controls,
    • Providing sound financial support and insights to assist ownership in making strategic business decisions,
    • Administration of company payroll for 20+ employees,
    • Administration of employee benefits plan and other human resource functions,
    • Liaise with external accountants and provide information for their review of year-end financial statements and other annual filings, and
    • Assist with other projects and tasks as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of relevant Controller experience in the manufacturing or equipment sales industry, or automobile dealership (designated CPA, or equivalent),
    • Experience with management/cost accounting best practices,
    • Experience with CDK software, or other comparable ERP, is preferred,
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, and
    • Exemplary time management skills and exceptional attention to detail.
