Job Description

  • Support CoordinatorInclusion Canada – Newfoundland and Labrador, (formerly the Newfoundland and Labrador Association for Community Living), an advocacy association for individuals with intellectual disabilities, invites applications for the position of Support Coordinator.Under the direction of the Executive Director and Board of Directors of this association, the Support Coordinator will be responsible for:

    · Working directly with people with disabilities and their support networks to develop their life plans and identify their decision-making support needs to enhance labour force attachment and stability of individual supports.

    · Assist people to arrange the informal and formal supports they need to implement their plans and overcome barriers.

    · Facilitate community engagement and partnerships with respect to legal capacity and current work being done through The Right to Decide Project.

    · Work with community partners to explore an “individualized alternative care plan model” to identify barriers to legal capacity and supported decision making.

    · Support the coalition of community organizations under The Right to Decide Project to develop community-based capacity to develop systemic changes.

    · Coordinate and support the coalition of community organizations in scheduling meetings, research, assist with planning and reporting.

    · Work closely within a team approach to document the process and outcomes for individuals with intellectual disabilities, supporters, and community organizations.

    · Assist with knowledge dissemination including the development of project methodology, key learnings, evaluation findings and recommendations.

    · Other duties as required.

    This position is currently set for a 6-month period with the possibility of extension.

    Salary is $22.50 per hour and a work week of 37.5 hours.

    Qualifications: Graduation with a degree in Human Services or related field from a recognized university, or an acceptable combination of education, with experience in training and community development. Experience in the field of supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and knowledge of the work of Inclusion Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Salary: $22.50 per hour

    Schedule:

    • Monday to Friday
