The Executive Director is responsible to the Board of Directors for the overall management of the Centre’s operations, including community relations; cultural development; program management; financial management; personnel management; Board relations; and facilities management.

The Executive Director routinely reports to the Board of Directors through the President or his/her designate, and is responsible for direct supervision of the Administrative manager and designated program staff.

This position reports directly to the Board of Directors. The hours of work are 37.5 per week.

Competency in the following areas is necessary:
- · Prepares, reviews, and revises job descriptions and contracts for the approval of the Board of Director’s Personnel Committee.
- · Recommends rates of pay and benefits to the Boards of Directors.
- · In conjunction with the Board’s Personnel committee, assists with staff recruitment, screening, hiring evaluations, and dismissals.
- · Maintains a positive and productive work environment.
- · Prepares in consultation with the board and staff, an annual training plan.
Qualifications

The successful applicant must have:
- · A thorough knowledge of the nature and significance of First Nations culture;
- · Traditional leadership skills including an awareness of the role of vision trust, the clean path and friendship;
- · Proven organizational, financial, and program management skills;
- · Well developed oral and written communication skills;
- · Well develop0ed oral and written communication skills;
Strong identification with the goals and aims of the Friendship Centre.
